State Administration Council Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing yesterday advised the people inhabiting the areas being controlled by the ethnic armed organizations to be vigilant and careful as he will take retaliatory measures against the ethnic armed organizations to protect national sovereignty.
He has warned the residents to be wise enough so that they are not misused by the armed groups.
He issued this warning and advice while he met on 3rd September with the Shan State Cabinet members and the responsible personnel in the town hall in Taunggyi in Shan State.
Obviously, he has referred to the northern alliance forces which have attacked and seized the army bases and departmental buildings.
Since the launch of the so-called Operation 1027, the border trade activities have stopped with the residents deserting their places to safer places to seek shelter.
The ethnic armed organizations are using the human dwellings as well as the state owned buildings to protect themselves, using the local people as human shields, calling back those who have deserted their places and forcibly enlisting the local people, said the SAC Chair.
He added that these EAOs are striving for extending their territory, taking advantage of the political crisis. Not only MNDAA and TNLA but also the KIA are launching attacks on the towns and villages. AA is also active in Rakhine State, launching attacks on the army units and the police camps.
There were also news reports in August that KNU insurgents were also preparing to attack the Tatmadaw.
He concluded his speech by saying that Tatmadaw is exerting united effort to restore stability and peace across the nation.
