As of 12 noon on March 31, the National Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (NDEMA) has reported that 2,056 people have been killed, 3900 injured and 270 missing.
The powerful earthquake has caused damage to the buildings and casualties in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Northeastern Shan State, and Bago Region.These regions are well known for tourism and now experiencing the highest number of building damage and casualties including famous cultural sites and religious edifices.
Six of these regions have been declared a state of emergency, and there are still some deaths and others being locked underground.
