A VoA news announced that the UK-based Burma Rohingya Group known as BROUK has issued a statement which says that an international arrest warrant against the top brass of Myanmar army has been issued by the Argentina Court of Law.
The court said the Myanmar military top brass committed the crime of ethnic cleansing against the Rohingya ethnic people in 2017 as well as other offences which must be deemed as the crimes under the Penal Code of Argentina. The court has filed criminal charges against 22 top-ranking military officers, including Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. Previously, the court charged only the junta officials, but now they have also charged the then president U Htin Kyaw and State Counsellor Daw Aung Sun Suu Kyi.
In this regard, the VoA has contacted Major-General Zaw Min Htun, the spokesperson for the military regime for some comments. He said, “Does Argentina know Myanmar? But Myanmar government knows Argentina. If they would like to comment on or criticise Myanmar according to the law, I’d like to suggest that they’d better first appoint the judges to fill the vacant posts needed to administer the justice within their country.”
