Agreement reached to build democracy federal union–Senior General

Agreement has been reached to build a democracy federal union, said Defence Services Commander in Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to those attending  Caretaker Government Meeting 5/2022 held on 29th July.

Regarding peace talks with the Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAO), Senior General said,”As long as we provide assistance to the

indigenous people living in the areas inflicted by the armed conflicts in regard to food, accommodation and attire, it is good to make peace talks a success. This will contribute to achieve peace to a certain extent. So, we had better fulfill their needs as much as possible within the framework of law.”

Additionally, he explained that the national goal and the political objective have been rolled out to the EAOs during the peace talks and that he is quite optimistic about the results of the meetings.

“Our political objective is to build a union, which is a combination of multi-party democracy, democratic governance and federal system. As we have come to an agreement on construction of such a union, we can continue to discuss to achieve peace.”

“Additionally, we have got the political way out from which they can quit if they are really willing to achieve peace. Efforts are needed to exert in this direction.”

“Commencing from 1st February 2022 on which six-month extension was given, there has been improvement in terms of the rule of law except in certain areas. Compared to 2021, situation has changed dramatically in terms of stability and  peace,” said the SAC chairman.

In conclusion, he pointed out that only when there is cooperation, will success be achieved.
