Ks 400 billion set aside to support agricultural activities

Of the natural disaster management fund, Kyats 400 billion will be set aside to support the agricultural activities, said State Administration Council (SAC) Chairman Defence Services Commander in Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on the second day of the meeting held on 9 August in Nay Pyi Taw to coordinate matters regarding the activities of the Union Government.

The Ministry of Planning and Finance has already raised a separate fund amounting to Kyats 400 billion to finance the agricultural activities with an aim to contribute to national economic development. In the first stage, farmers growing summer paddy and green beans will be financed to enable them to buy necessary chemical fertilizers, seeds and fuel oil, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

“The Regions and States need to ensure self sufficiency. And so, They need to try to take necessary measures to boost yield per acre,” pointed out the Senior General.

He added that the government on its part is also required to help the farmers arrange for export of the rice and beans.

“Depending on the crop yield, they will be able to enjoy the benefits. As they do no not need to spend money on the investment, the farmers can witness socioeconomic development,” said the SAC Chairman.

He went on to say that it is, therefore, indispensable to encourage manufacturing based on agriculture and livestock breeding activities.

The second day coordination meeting was attended by SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win and SAC members and the Union Ministers inter alia.
